Let’s hear it for the Groom! Uh oh, did I just unseat the bride from the matrimonial throne? No, 0f course not. Without a doubt the bride is, and will continue to be, the center of attention when it comes to weddings. That being said, I think it is high time to give some love to the groom. All too often, friends and family alike do not recognize and appreciate the challenging yet fulfilling commitment made by the groom when it comes to weddings. So…let’s take a walk down an unfamiliar path and look at some of the wedding experience from the grooms perspective. The journey begins with the decision to make a lifelong commitment and enter into a legal union with his loving partner. While it may not be obvious, this can be a very emotional time. Just like all major life decisions, there may be fear and uncertainty. Once the fears are dispelled, and the decision reached to offer a proposal to the irresistible bride to be, the groom still has other factors to consider. Do I need to get the blessing of the bride’s parents? How do I select the perfect ring? How, where and when will I propose? Will she say Yes? While these are only a few considerations prior to an actual proposal, each one takes on a significant level of importance for loving men who want the proposal of marriage to be perfect for their partners. Once these questions have been answered and the planning for the proposal is complete, it’s time to pop the question.
Vacation Fun with the Morse, Rooney and Lee Families. Working vacations do not get any better than this! We were privileged to have enjoyed seven fun filled days sailing on the Carnival Dream out of the port of New Orleans taking family and couples portraits. From the moment we arrived on the cruise ship, we knew that we were in store for exciting times with this great group. After navigating through some rough seas, compliments of tropical storm Cindy, it was smooth sailing with sun filled skies and warm breezes for the remainder of the trip. With three amazing ports of call, Roatan, Belize and Cozumel, there were plenty of activities to choose from. From scuba diving and snorkeling to carefree relaxation on the sandy white beaches, fun was had by all. We had a wonderful time, made new friends, and enjoyed capturing many of the families’ moments that matter. Here are a just a few of our favorite images from the trip.
A beautiful spring afternoon and a gorgeous high school senior. What a great combination! We had a great time photographing Caroline for her Senior Portrait Session this past Friday. The first stop on our tour of the city started out in the New Orleans Arts District. So much culture and history made this a perfect spot to get the creative juices flowing. It didn’t take long to realize how easy this young lady was to work with. She was relaxed, yet confident and focused. Her ability to create a variety of facial expressions from intense and seductive, to relaxed and carefree, was impressive. A simple word or two and she would deliver striking poses like a pro. With so many interesting nooks and crannies, it was easy to find excellent backdrops to compliment her outfits and accentuate her beauty. After wrapping up in the area formerly known as the Warehouse District, we made a brief stop in the French Quarter for a few additional images. Finally, we headed to City Park to finish out the session. We arrived just as the sun dropped low in the sky, casting wonderful light on the moss strewn Oak Trees in the park. It was the prefect place to round out a fun filled afternoon of photography. Caroline will soon be graduating from Mount Carmel and then it’s off to the University of Alabama. We offer our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for continued success to this amazing young lady.
As wedding photographers covering all of Southeast Louisiana, sharing in the joys of loving couples as they commit their lives to one another is a privilege that we never take for granted. This past Saturday, we left New Orleans for Houma to photograph the wedding of Jamie and Sandie. This amazing couple contacted us several months ago for a consultation. After spending a few moments chatting with them, it was obvious that this couple was truly in love and committed to a happy and healthy relationship. We were thrilled when they chose us to capture the images that they will reflect upon for years to come. When I sat down to write about this wedding, three words instantly came to mind…Joy Filled Moments. These three powerful words are a fitting description for their big day. No detail was left to chance and the wedding venue was decorated artfully with so many personal touches. Observing the union of not just a happy couple but of two families joining as one is a always a wonderful experience. As they exchanged their vows, one look around the room made it clear that delight was shared by all in attendance, including their wonderful children. Our favorite moments during the evening were when we were able to steal the newly married couple away for a few minutes for some couples portraits. The sun was low in the sky and provided just the right amount of light to accentuate the passion shared by this great couple. Thanks to Jamie and Sandie for choosing Fradella Photography and best wishes for a bright and prosperous future. It is our pleasure to share just a few of the happy couples’ “Moments that Matter.”
Senior Portrait Session – Bayou Sauvage. As an avid outdoorsman, we decided on a wandering wooden pathway in Bayou Sauvage for Dougie’s senior pictures. Like many young men, he was initially a reluctant participant for his senior portrait session. It didn’t take long before we had him laughing and relaxed and then he turned on the charm. One of his passions is hunting and he brought along a shotgun. Since guns and wildlife refuge’s don’t mix well, we moved on to a different location for a few more images. We figured it was best to let the game wardens and sheriff’s’ deputies focus their efforts elsewhere. I must admit, posing him with graduation garb and a shotgun made for some interesting images. Best wishes to Dougie for a future filled with success and joy.
While we always love spending time working and playing in New Orleans, Saturday’s senior portrait session had special meaning for Sylvia and I. Our youngest daughter is nearing graduation and it was time for her senior portraits. She chose the French Quarter and City Park as the shoot locations. In typical Allison style, we didn’t know where we were going until the night before. That being said, it was a great choice. The weather was fantastic and of course when the camera was raised, she turned on her charm. City streets, stately oaks, calm ponds, and Allison…the results, of course, were stunning. How could they not be with that glowing smile and those intense eyes. We had so much fun with this shoot. For a change, we weren’t just capturing “moments that matter”, we were living them too! Graduation is around the corner, and another right of passage will come and go. For Allison, it’s onward and upward with a future filled with hopes and dreams. For us, we have a few more memories of joy filled moments as we watch our baby girl blossom into a fine young woman.
We had a great time participating in the The Royal Palm Bridal Show on Sunday. This lively event was sponsored by Kat’s Cakes who featured an amazing display of artistically decorated cakes. In addition to getting to meet with numerous wedding vendors, brides-to-be enjoyed a fashion show of dresses and tuxedos provided by The Pink Veil. Thanks to the Royal Palm and Kat’s Cakes for coordinating and hosting such a great and successful event. Enjoy the images by clicking below.
We recently had the privilege of spending a wonderful afternoon with Hannah. When she told us she wanted to take her senior portraits at the Audubon Zoo, we were thrilled. What an inspiring setting for senior portraits. From the moment she arrived, she was absolutely glowing. We had a blast laughing and strolling through the zoo while finding just the right locations to accent her outfits. Her energy and beauty was unmistakable and are evident in the images that we captured. Best wishes to Hannah, and congratulations on being a member of the Fisher High School Graduating Class of 2017.
