Chris and Cate, along with numerous friends and family, made the journey from California to New Orleans to exchange their vows on New Years Eve. They selected Oak Alley, with it’s majestic Oaks and beautifully landscaped grounds, as their wedding venue. Weather forecasts were worrisome, but that didn’t hamper their moods or enthusiasm one bit. Smiles and laughter filled the afternoon and mother nature cooperated just enough to allow the wedding to proceed as planned. As always, Oak Alley staff managed the event expertly and everything flowed perfectly. Join us in wishing them them joy, happiness, laughter and love in 2017. Here are a few of their “moments that matter.”
The Oh So Decent Proposal
Sylvia and I were very fortunate to play a role in the engagement of Kevin and Stefanie. Kevin contacted us several weeks ago about his plans to stun his love with a poolside proposal at the Hotel Monteleone. The couple currently resides in Florida. Kevin, a long time New Orleans aficionado, decided the Big Easy and his favorite hotel would be the perfect location. Kevin’s planning was meticulous and the love and affection he expressed for Stefanie when he spoke with us was inspirational. Soon enough the big day arrived. The staff at the Hotel Monteleone was fantastic. Management and support staff ensured that every step of Kevin’s plan went off without a hitch. From reserving tables to making sure all staff in the areas in play were well informed. Stefanie had no idea what was in store for her. So, at the designated time, I pretended to be taking portraits of Sylvia. The couple arrived, and after chatting, smiling, and laughing together, Kevin stunned Stefanie when he dropped to a knee. The emotions were intense and their passion for one another was unmistakeable. What a moment and experience! We were thrilled to be there to capture it. Not surprisingly, Stefanie, with a huge smile, said “YES”! After a few poolside pictures, next on Kevin’s agenda was the well known Carousel Bar & Lounge, where the couple’s engagement was announced and celebrated. After the newly engaged couple enjoyed a cocktail, Kevin had arranged for a carriage tour of the city. We tagged along and stopped at several scenic spots to take photographs to commemorate the occasion and so that generations to come can enjoy some of the happy couples “moments that matter.” Thanks to Kevin and Stefanie for allowing us to be a part of their special night, to the Hotel Monteleone, and to the Carousel Bar and Lounge for working hard to make sure everything went smoothly. Romance, my friends, is still alive and well, especially in the Big Easy!
Old World Charm
Jennifer and Nathan chose New Orleans as the location for their destination wedding. It turned out to be the perfect venue. Jennifer’s parents had honeymooned in the Big Easy many years ago, establishing ties to the city. Close friends and family traveled to the city for the quaint and romantic wedding. As the bride prepared, the men enjoyed a cocktail in the lounge. Soon enough the ladies arrived to a jubilant greeting from the men. The bridal party moved to the courtyard, which turned out to be the perfect location for some group photos. At one point, a friendly employee photo bombed a group shot of the men. The bridal party erupted with laughter. The ladies jumped in and joined the men for some group shots, and the celebration began in earnest. Soon after, the bridal party moved upstairs to the suite for the ceremony. The suite was elegant and wonderfully decorated with a gorgeous chandelier as the centerpiece. The ceremony was traditional and the couple exchanged heartfelt vows. Following the nuptials, the guests enjoyed an outstanding selection of menu items. Then came the dancing. Four couples, all with an obvious passion for ballroom dancing, gracefully flowed across the dance floor. I could not help but imagine these dancers in the huge ballrooms of generations past. It was truly a sight to see. Thanks to Jennifer and Nathan for allowing us the opportunity to capture their moments that matter.
