Sylvia and I recently had the good fortune to attend a two-day posing workshop in Houston with international photography master and best-selling author Roberto Valenzuela. His educational books include Picture Perfect Practice, Picture Perfect Posing, and Picture Perfect Lighting. The daily workshop format was formal (yet fun) classroom instruction, followed by practical applications of posing techniques with models.
After several hours of classroom instruction on day one, Roberto cut us loose with the models. He forewarned us that day one would be challenging, and that we should not get discouraged when we made critical posing errors. He explained that our mistakes would assist in conditioning our minds to notice posing problems. Roberto was right. On our first day, we struggled. When we did, Roberto was there to assist and provide constructive guidance. On day two, after several more hours of classroom instruction, Roberto again released us to work on our own with the models. The results were astonishing. Just as Roberto had promised, all the pieces of the puzzle came together, and the results were amazing. Thanks to Roberto, the models, and all the support staff for providing us with an unparalleled experience. Roberto is encouraging and inspiring. We appreciate his willingness to share his knowledge and to ensure that the art of photography remains fresh and alive.
